DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Three small children nearly drowned in a neighbor's backyard pool in Delray Beach Tuesday evening.

It happened at a home on Dorson Way about 5:30 Tuesday night.

Delray Beach Fire-Rescue says a 3-year old boy, a 2-year old boy and a 2-year old girl all ended up in a neighbor's swimming pool. They were visiting at a home next door, somehow got outside, and went to the neighbor's pool at 3064 Dorson Way.

How they got into the pool is not clear. The pool is surrounded by a wooden fence about six feet high. Neighbors feel they may have opened a gate in the fence.

A woman who was visiting her mother-in-law nearby ran over and did CPR on one of the kids.

"I did what I had to do to try to save a life and I would hope that if it was happening to me, somebody would help me, as well," said Priscilla Dawson.

Polcie say the mother of two of the kids pulled all three out of the water.

Police are investigating to determine where their parents were and whether they were supervised. Police say two of the children are siblings. Their mothers may face charges for negligence.

One boy is hospitalized at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach in critical condition; the other two kids are in critical condition at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach.

The water in the pool was so murky that Delray Beach Fire-Rescue put divers into the pool to confirm that there were no other children in the water, because the water was not clear enough to see the bottom.
