Group Offering Rides in WWII Plane

Lantana, FL (WFLX)

A non-profit group trying to locate remains of missing soldiers from World War II stops in our area.

History Flight is offering rides in a World War II-era plane at the Lantana airport this weekend.

The plane is a fully-restored T-6 Texan, a two-seater, and this type of aircraft was used to train countless American military pilots in combat maneuvers.

By selling rides,  the organization raises money to search for the remains of missing American soldiers and pilots in the Pacific.

"Our military and our government has always had the thought that no one is left behind. No one. Everybody comes home no matter what shape they're in. And we believe that's an important thing, that we should follow up on that and bring everyone home," said Dave Whitcomb, History Flight pilot.

The rides start at about $300.

The plane will be at the Lantana Airport Saturday and Sunday, January 9-10, 9am  to 5pm each day.  If you'd like to know more, go to their web site:
