BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Boynton Beach Police investigators say it started with gunshots and ended with an SUV crashing through a house.
The incident left one person dead and a woman, who had nothing to do with it, with quite a cleanup.
"I was a nervous wreck. I didn't sleep all night. I haven't slept yet," said Boynton Beach resident, Beryl Phillips.
And what's causing Phillips to lose sleep, is a hole right through the wall of her bedroom.
"I was asleep. I was in bed. Asleep and I heard a boom," said Phillips.
According to Boynton Beach Police, Monday night an SUV came crashing through the house along the 2000 block of Northeast 3rd Street.
An investigator on the scene says it all started at an abandoned house further up the street where shots were fired.
"I never heard such a thing. All I heard is like something, boom, boom, boom," said neighbor, Joseph Felix.
One man, identified as Benton Lineau, drove away in the SUV but didn't get far, slamming into Phillip's home. Police say he was found with a shot to the chest and later died at Delray Medical Center. Another man, identified as Dieuny Pasius, also ended up at Delray with multiple gunshot wounds. The whole scene is not sitting well with neighbors.
"It's very disturbing. With three kids and my wife and stuff you know, with two abandoned houses and stuff, that's really scary," said neighbor, Thomas Smith.
And it's even worse for Phillips, left to deal with the mess. But she still considers herself lucky.
"If he would've, the truck would've went straight instead of sideways like it did, I think I probably would've came through the wall. I wouldn't be here, said Phillips.
Pasius is listed in critical condition.
If you know anything about the shooting, call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
