Jack, the Bike Man, beaten, shop burglarized

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A man, who's spent decades building bikes for needy children, is beaten during an overnight theft at his bike shop.

Police said four teens hopped the fence at Jack the Bike Man's shop on 4401 Broadway in West Palm Beach,and attempted to steal bikes. Jack Hairston, known as Jack the Bike Man, keeps hundreds of bikes in his backyard that he repairs and donates to children during the holidays.

Police arrested two of the teens about a block away from the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, Hairston went to his shop to check on what was taken. He discovered two more teens hiding under a pile of bikes.

They jumped him, and Hairston suffered injuries to his face and hand.He was treated at Columbia Hospital.

Police are questioning the two teens who were caught, and have solid leads about who the other two are.

All of the stolen bikes have been recovered.
