WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A murder-suicide near West Palm Beach Wednesday claims two lives.

Sheriff's detectives say Monette Dubuisson, 26, of West Palm Beach was shot and killed by her estranged husband Gary Jean-Pierre, 36, who then committed suicide.

The victim's sister was consoled by a loved one at the scene after she learned of the tragedy.

Investigators say the couple was having marital problems and Jean-Pierre had moved out in October or November. But Dubuisson was still giving him rides to work.

Authorities say he showed up at her second-floor apartment on Forest Hill Boulevard about 12:30 Wednesday afternoon and pulled out a handgun and started shooting, and then took his own life.

"It's horrible! It's right above us. You heard three gunshots, and people screaming help. And it's, it's outrageous!" said Jessica Orvis, a neighbor  who lives directly below the apartment where the shooting took place.

"It terrifies me; it really does. I just don't know what the world is coming to," said Veronica Thomas, another neighbor who heard the shots.

The couple have a 7-year old son, and Dubuisson has a 9-year old daughter from a previous relationship. The children were not home at the time of the murder-suicide.

Friends of the couple are not sure what sparked the incident. One speculated that a jealous rage may have pushed Jean-Pierre over the edge and led to the shooting.
