DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - They know it's going to be rough, but it's something they need to do. Two plastic surgeons and one neurosurgeon from Delray Medical Center are heading to the Dominican Republic. All three will be working at field camps set up along the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
They're bringing in more medical supplies, and the airlines are allowing them to take extra baggage because of they know there are not enough supplies, medicine or doctors to treat everyone.
The doctors, who are going independently of the hospital, have open ended tickets to the Domincan Republic and say they will stay as long as needed.
The doctors are ready to encounter anything, they say, the hardest part will be treating the children.
