LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - A mother and her son are rushed to the hospital Monday after being hit by a car. The accident happened at the corner of Lake Avenue and Dixie Highway.

Deputies say 63-year-old Winnifred Baugh, for some reason, drove onto the sidewalk, hit two traffic signs, and then hit a mother and son waiting at that corner.

Shena Wright and her 9-year-old son, Terrell Caldwell, suffered severe injuries. Wright has broken bones and internal injuries, and Terrell has severe head injuries.

Witnesses were shocked by what they saw. "I had to look away immediately because, I thought, maybe she was dead or something. Then, I asked one of the kids, and I looked away, and I said 'Is she moving?' And they said, 'Yes.'"

At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver.

Both mother and son are in critical condition at Delray Medical Center.
