BELLE GLADE, FL (WFLX) - A heartbreaking update about a little girl who stole so many of our hearts.

Giselle Gonzalez, the Belle Glade 6-year-old girl with the inoperable brain tumor, passed away Tuesday.

We first met Giselle almost two years ago. She was 4-years-old and fighting a deadly brain tumor. "It was very hard, especially after the surgery. She wasn't eating. She wasn't talking. She wasn't walking," said her mother, Rita Gonzalez.

But after surgery and chemo, Giselle surprised everyone, and, by December 2008, her prognosis looked good.

Eight months later, though, devastating news came. The tumor had grown next to her spine, and there was nothing the doctors could do. "She's tough. She saw me crying the other day and she said, 'Why are you crying? I'm fine. I'll be good."

Giselle's final days were spent at home and at school.

Belle Glade Elementary threw her a party making her princess for a day. "No more hospitals. No more treatments. We're going to keep her at the house. You know, give her her last moments where she's comfortable."

Little Giselle passed away Tuesday, quietly, at home. Now, this precious little princess, a precious little angel, is now at peace.

Giselle's parents are both still out of work, so an account has been set up to help the family with final preparations for the funeral. The viewing will be held Thursday and the funeral on Friday.

If you'd like to donate, an account is set up at Belle Glade Elementary School.
