Soup Kitchen can't deliver without van

What happens when a charity feeding the hungry has trouble picking up its donated food?

That's the dilemma for the Soup Kitchen of West Boynton.  Executive director Enrique Zuanetto said Tuesday he just learned he'd lost the use of one of the organization's two food pick-up vans, due to engine failure.
Zuanetto called it a big setback.  "We need a lot of food," he told us.  "Every year we are serving more and more and more."

While Zuanetto said his charity still receives adequate food donations, the bad economy has greatly diminished contributions of money.  Zuanetto said the Soup Kitchen does not have enough money to replace the van.

"We need two vans," said Zuanetto.  "We cannot do it with one van.  The people who give you food, the restaurants, you need to give good service.  When they call you, you need to be there."
Zuanetto hopes people in the community will respond with either the donation of a van, the offer of a van at a reasonable price.
