$100,000 jewelry recovered from Town Center

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - Early Sunday morning Boca Raton PD responded to the Town Center shopping area after recieving reports of a suspicious male wearing all black clothing and carrying a black bag.

A security officer had noticed the same male crouching inside the Piercing Pagoda at 6000 West Glades Road. The suspect left the mall through one of the back access corridors used by employees and stores at the Town Center.

The security officer reported the suspicious incident to a officer patrolling the area. When the officer entered the access corridor the suspect, later identified as Greggie Zamort, turned and ran.

A foot chase lasted a few minutes until Zamort found himself locked in the corridor. Zamort then threatened the officer with a screwdriver until the officer ordered him to drop it at gunpoint.

After searching Zamort officers found a Piercing Pagoda bag with almost $350 in cash and jewelry valued at more than $100,000.

Zamort has been charged with burglary, grand theft, aggravated assualt on a law enforcement officer, and resisteing arrest with violence.

Boca Raton PD is now looking into Zamort's role in similar burglary cases.
