Dr. Rigg grew up in a family of dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes, horses, cattle, pigs and a squirrel. She attended the University of Chicago and received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Maryland.
In 1991, she proudly accepted her DVM degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, she controlled the importation and spread of diseases while working for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
After deciding to return to private practice, she spent the next 14 years caring for animals in emergency rooms as well as in the daytime setting.
While Dr Rigg had many dogs and other animals including a flock of sheep, her life is currently controlled by her two cats, Ian and Fiona.
