WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Floridians, who buy energy efficient appliances, can soon qualify for a 20 percent (up to $1,500 per household) rebate on ENERGY STAR appliances.
Beginning Friday, April 16, the $17.5-million rebate program will provide Florida residents discounts on approximately 68,000 ENERGY STAR appliances purchased from Florida retailers between Friday, April 16, and Sunday, April 25.
The ENERGY STAR appliances that qualify are refrigerators, freezers, washers, dishwashers, room air conditioners and gas tank-less hot water heaters.
If you trade in your old unit, you will also receive an additional $75 per appliance.
The rebates for energy efficient appliances are part of the federal stimulus program, and these purchases are expected to pump at least $62 million into Florida's economy, in addition to at least $4 million in tax revenues.
The program will run until May 9 or the applications exceed available funds.
