Misty Croslin brought to scene of investigation

JACKSONVILLE, FL (WFLX) - For the first time, the sheriff in Putnam County is saying 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings is likely dead and that her body is somewhere in northeast Florida.

UPDATE, THU 10 PM: Misty Croslin, a possible person of interest, was brought to the scene where divers are searching the St. John's River. She lived with Haleigh's father and was the last person to see the little girl alive.

"People are finally starting to talk. Where that's going to lead us, I don't know, but we're going to follow it to the end," said Sheriff Jeff Hardy. "To tell you all how confident I am, I'm confident that I am not going to give up on this little girl and her family."

Croslin currently is in jail on unrelated drug charges

Previously: New developments in the hunt for Haleigh Cummings. The missing person's case is now a homicide investigation.

Investigators, searching the St. John's River, found a blue cooler, but, at this point, we don't know anything about it's contents.

Meantime, Misty Croslin's cousin, the last person to see Haleigh alive, has hired a lawyer. Croslin's cousin, Joe Overstreet, moved from Florida to Tennessee shortly after Haleigh vanished. Overstreet was just questioned by police for a third time.

The grandmother, who lives in Tennessee, says she's heard two scenarios of what happened the night Haleigh disappeared. She also talked about how she really feels about all the family members in this case. "Regardless of what they done, I will always love them -- no more, no less. But if you do something like that to a little girl. I'm not going to handle that," said Annette Sykes.

Meanwhile, forensics experts say, whatever evidence was found, it could take weeks to determine what it is.
