Knee Problems

Patrick hurt his knee playing golf here just the other day, but he's not alone. Actually, the knee is probably the most commonly injured joint we have - and that's for both men and women. As a matter of fact, it's more prominent in women because of their anatomy. So knowing that, the idea is to preempt the problem and prevent knee injuries. But if you have a knee injury what can you do not to make it worse? Let me tell you what to do.
If you have a chronic knee problem you need to do three things. The first thing is, if you're overweight, lose weight because if you don't, you're going to wear that joint out. The knee is more than a hinge joint, it also rotates every time you put weight on it. If you're overweight you're going to ground it right down to nothing.
The second thing you need to do is exercise, but you can't do any weight-bearing kinds of exercises. The ideal exercises are swimming or riding a bicycle. The third thing you need to do is wear devices if necessary, such as braces or use a cane. Forget about that vanity, and don't think that because you're using a device - the knee is any worse, it's not. If you don't, you're going to end up with two bad knees.
The bottom line? Protect those knees and whether you're a man or a woman know that knee injuries are the most common. If you have a knee injury you can still deal with it and enjoy life at the same time, but if you don't heed those warnings you're going to end up with a knee replacement
