WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Loper, Smitty and Randi are known for being big radio pranksters. But The Buzz 103.1 Morning crew also has a big heart.

Ten days ago, Lynne Talley's boyfriend of five years, Ronnie Peterson, drowned at a Stuart Beach after being caught in a rip current.

"Five years with someone and then for them to be taken away in an instant, it's really hard, really hard," said Talley.

Making things even more painful, she doesn't have the money to give Ronnie a proper funeral.

And that's when she decided to call the Buzz morning DJ's who Ronnie loved so much especially after he won a trip to Universal Studios from them.

"The Buzz actually gave us our last trip together. It was definitely a special weekend," added Talley.

Talley thought she could round up some community help by calling in, but the Buzz crew took things a step further.

"She said we don't have any money to give him a proper funeral, a proper burial. It was our civic duty to make sure he gets exactly what he needs which is a proper good bye," said DJ Jeremy Loper.

Tuesday night The Buzz will hold a fundraiser at Charlie's Neighborhood Bar and Grille in Stuart from 6 to 8 pm. The restaurant is located at 5247 Kanner Hwy.

Charlie's will donate 10 percent of all liquor sales to the Peterson family.

The Buzz is auctioning off a rare item autographed by all of the bands that played at the "Buzz Bake Sale".

For this crew, it's the least they can do for a loyal listener.

"I can't begin to thank them for what they are doing for Ronnie, for us," said Talley.
