DEERFIELD, FL (WFLX) - Josie Ratley was moved to a rehabilitation facility Tuesday to undergo extensive physical and occupational therapy.

The 15-year-old girl was beaten so severely, her brain is damaged. Now, she'll have to learn how to do everything all over again.

The stitches in her head are still there; however, the tubes and ventilator are gone. The family is excited that every piece of medical equipment has been removed from her body.

It was six weeks ago that Ratley was flown to Broward General Medical Center after being beaten within an inch of her life. Authorities say by Wayne Treacy who was upset over a text message.

It's been an agonizing recovery so far, but there's much more ahead. She still cannot speak nor walk on her own.

Josie also has almost no use of the right side of her body -- her right arm, hand and fingers aren't moving.

The family attorney says she's going to have to relearn everything. "We do not know the long-term outcome of her injuries. It's going to take years for that to be determined," said their attorney.

The family is not naming the rehab facility where Ratley is being treated.

As for the teen accused in her attack, he's charged with attempted murder and has pleaded not guilty.
