Fourteen-year-old charged with carjacking

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - Tuesday evening around 5, John House was getting gas at the Valero gas station at 1380 N. Federal Highway while his 12-year-old daughter waited in the front seat of his 2003 Nissan Murano.

House left the engine running and the doors unlocked while he went inside the gas station. At that time, Tottiana Canteen, 14, opened the driver's door, ordered the girl to get out of the car, and sped off.

Boca Raton Police spotted the car heading north on Dixie Highway. Police laid down stop sticks in the road, which Canteen dodged as she turned into a parking lot.

An officer followed her, and when he exited his cruiser, Canteen reversed the Murano crashing into it.

Canteen was then taken into custody and is being charged with carjacking, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, driving without a driver's license and improper backing. The investigation is on going.

Neither the 12-year-old nor the officer were injured.
