No charges in luxury hotel stabbing

MANALAPAN -- Even though there is surveillance video, the investigation into a stabbing at a luxury hotel in Manalapan ended without charges.

The state attorney's office says there is insufficient evidence and no charges are being filed in the October incident.

It happened in a hallway at the Ritz-Carlton.

Authorities say 32 year old Christopher Nachtman of Loxahatchee stabbed 44 year old John Kopko of Jupiter during a heated argument.

They were at a seminar featuring David Irving, a controversial author who has been labeled a Nazi sympathizer and Holocaust denier.

Police say Nachtman threatened Kopko during the seminar and Nachtman told Kopko to step outside into the hall. And that's where the scuffle and stabbing took place.

The entire fight lasted less than a minute.

At some point, authorities say Nachtman stabbed Kopko and cut himself on the finger during the scuffle.

Police say there were no independent witnesses and the parties involved were not cooperative, making it difficult to make the charges stick.
