BOCA RATON, FLORIDA - By Amanda Stanley email

Interstate 95 was closed in Boca Raton for most of Thursday night after a suspect fleeing from police was hit by a vehicle and killed.

The highway was shut down around 7:30 p.m. and both directions just reopened at 10:55 p.m.

According to Boca Raton Police, officers were doing an undercover car burglary operation when they saw someone attempt to break into a car. Two suspects got into the car and tried to flee on Interstate 95. Officers put Stop Sticks down and disabled the vehicle.

The driver in the car was arrested by police a short time later.

The passenger tried to run away from officers and ran in front of an AT&T truck. He was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
