PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - Some of your favorite restaurants could surprise you and not in a good way. The secret is out: What's on your dish is a lot worse for you than you can even imagine.
We've got the calorie count that is nothing short of jaw dropping. "Oh, we know where this is from Five Guys."
The Freeborough family of Palm Beach Gardens loves their burgers and fries. "I go to Five Guys all the time," said 4-year-old Noah.
In fact, I couldn't keep Noah out of the fries. The consumer watchdog group Center for Science in the Public Interest just released their list of the most unhealthy restaurant meals around (Xtreme Eating 2010).
And Five Guys' bacon cheeseburger and large fries is at the top of that list. "This meal is almost 2,400 calories. Wow!"
Wow is right considering you're supposed to have less than 2,000 calories in an entire day. A big problem is that a lot of the food is very deceptive. The burger doesn't look that big, but it's almost like eating two quarter pounders from McDonald's!
Amanda Ackner is also surprised, but disgusted by the Cheesecake Factory's pasta carbarnara with chicken. It has a whopping 2,500 calories and enough saturated fat to last you for four days. "A lot of people like to go enjoy themselves, and, they think, something that looks like that isn't that fattening. It's pretty bad."
Four-year-old Noah also liking the pasta dish, but after exposing the unhealthy numbers, dad vows to now think twice about where and what his family orders. "That is a lot of calories and a lot of sodium. I has no idea. I don't want them to grow up with all that salt and all that fat."
Other meals that made the list. PF Changs' double pan fried noodles combo. It has 1,820 calories.
California Pizza Kitchen's Tostada Pizza with grilled steak has 1,680 calories. And Outback's New Zealand rack of lamb with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies has a 1,820 calories and an artery clogging 80 grams of saturated fat!
