TAMPA, FL (WFLX) - The damages caused by the spill could soon spell problems for aquariums in Florida. Workers are worried about their supply of fresh saltwater. The Florida Aquarium in Tampa gets all of its saltwater directly from the gulf.
So far, all of the shipments have been clean and oil-free. However, workers are wondering how long that will last.
"It sounds cliche but water is life for the animals here at the aquarium. That's why we test it all the time and make sure it's a quality product."
Workers say if they're forced to stop using water from the gulf, their options are to bring in water from somewhere else or create water that's safe for the fish--both of which could become very costly.
