Baby boy fights for his life due to Shaken Baby Syndrome

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - An eight month old boy remains in the hospital this morning. He is the tiny victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

26-year-old Kareem Daniel Farrell is facing felony child abuse charges. Investigators in Port St. Lucie say Farrell admitted to shaking the baby last week.

Doctors say the baby boy may have permanent brain damage and a loss of sight. This is, if he survives.

Neighbors are obviously shocked and saddened. "I don't know what I would do if this happened to my child. They get a little wild but man, they're just babies. They're just babies doing what they do."

Farrell is held at the St. Lucie County Jail on a $500,000 bond. The baby is being treated at St. Mary's Neonatal Center.
