FCAT scores finally in

Posted by Elizabeth Stewart - email

(WFLX) - The results for the FCAT are finally in after weeks of delay by the state's testing contractor.

Students in Palm Beach County scored better than the state average in almost every grade and improved pretty much across the board.

Let's take a look at third graders across our area. In reading, statewide, the average was 72 percent of students who passed this test. Third graders did great in math and so did tenth graders. But, the reading scores for tenth graders in our area had 39 percent passing.

As for the month-long delay in the results, NCS Pearson, the company responsible, says it had a computer glitch. The state has already asked for 3 million dollars in fines.

It could fine the company up to 25 million dollars.
