JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - "We combat crawled into the bathroom, I hid my girl in the shower while I stood with a baseball bat and mace at the bathroom door just in case some one came in." A mother describing the terror she and her daughter felt as bullets flew inside their Jupiter home. "I had a bullet in my wall, a bullet in my headboard and a bullet in my mattress. They took it away."

The drama unfolding at the home next door on Allen Street in Jupiter about 3:30 Tuesday morning. The victims, 31-year old John Anderson killed along with his live-in girlfriend Katie Coonrod, who was shot multiple times and is fighting for her life.

Neighbors were waking up to the sound of gunfire frantically calling 911. The callers were saying they had heard gunshots in the area.

Jupiter police have released a composite sketch of the suspect. He's described as a white or Hispanic man in his 20's or 30's, about six feet tall with a "fade" haircut.

Cops have been canvassing the neighborhood for hours and bringing in police dogs to search for the shooter. "We've gone house by house, street by street."

"I saw the shadow. I was looking directly out the window when he passed by, and it was before the police got here so who else could it have been?"

Cops continue to search for the gunman and for clues as to why someone would want these two dead.

Tuesday night, we were told Katie Coonrod is at St. Mary's Hospital in critical condition.

If you have any information about the shooting or the suspect, you are urged to call the Jupiter Police Department at 561-741-2700.
