It's not cool for your dogs to be hot

(WFLX) - You wouldn't leave your child outside in the sweltering heat, so why your dog?

We went for a ride along with Animal Control officers. They say they get a lot of complaints in the summertime about dogs being chained outside.

Authorities showed us still pictures of dogs tied up in yards with little or no shade available during the hottest part of the day. They say some dogs have died because of this.

"It's upsetting because we constantly battle this out there in the community. We're constantly addressing it and as soon as we can get one person straightened out and get them not to do it anymore, there are three more right around the corner."

There is a county ordinance that makes it illegal to keep a dog tied up outdoors between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. You could face a fine of up to 500 dollars.
