GREENWICH, CT (WFLX) - LeBron James announced live on ESPN that he will be joining Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat.

Pat Riley, President of the Heat, stated: "We are thrilled that LeBron James and Chris Bosh have decided to come to Miami to join forces with our truly great player, Dwyane Wade. We are looking forward to the opportunity of building something that our fans in Miami will be proud of for a long, long time. The journey is just beginning."

Lebron's new teammate Dwayne Wade also commented on the newest addition to the South Florida team: "I am thrilled to welcome LeBron James to the Heat family. I look forward to playing alongside LeBron, Chris Bosh and our teammates, and together representing the great city of Miami. There's magic in the number 3. This is the beginning of new chapter in Heat history and very exciting for both fans of the Miami Heat and the NBA."

"I think it's a new challenge for myself," James said. "It came down to where I felt I could win the most and where I could be happy with my friends and family."

James is a sports superstar whose appeal transcends basketball. He is one of the most hyped free agents in not just NBA history -- but in sports history.

He is a former league MVP and played the last seven years with the Cleveland Caveliers starting when he was 18 years old. For all his successes, though, he has not won an NBA championship.

He emphasized that he his decision to go to Miami is based on his chase for the championship and his belief that Miami gives him the best opportunity to win.
