'Barefoot Bandit' caught in Bahamas

Posted by Elizabeth Stewart - email

(WFLX) - The teenager known as the 'Barefoot Bandit' was captured in the Bahamas over the weekend.

Nineteen-year-old Colton Harris-Moore has been on the run for over two years after leaving a halfway house in Washington. The teenager is accused of stealing planes, cars, boats, and millions of dollars.

His arrest is a relief to residents in his hometown of Camano Island. "It's like incredible that he spent all that time sneaking around and nobody could catch him!"

"It's a relief to a lot of these folks, like a lot of the store owners. He had it coming for him. Definitely. We're happy justice is served."

Harris-Moore's mother says she knows about the arrest, but has no comment.
