HOUSTON, TX (WFLX) - A Houston woman injured by a bomb disguised as a box of chocolates has reportedly been revealed as the wife of an oil company executive.
Update, TUE 9 AM: After a storm of online speculation, there is confirmation of a frightening connection.
A Houston woman injured by a bomb disguised as a box of chocolates has reportedly been revealed as the wife of an oil company executive.
On Thursday night, someone left what appeared to be a box of chocolates on the porch of the woman's house with her name misspelled and a "thank you" note on it.
Neighbors said when the woman opened the package, it exploded, pelting her face with nails and tacks.
"I heard it sounded like a transformer that blew last night or a shot gun blast."
"We saw our neighbor coming out, holding her eye with a bit of blood on her shirt."
The woman, in her 60's, is in stable condition.

Investigators say the woman received the package at her home a couple of weeks ago but didn't open it until Friday night. That's when the small bomb exploded in her face, hitting her with nails and tacks.
The device reportedly looked professional, including batteries and wires. One neighbor says there was a card attached that included the woman's name and simply read "Thank you."
"I can't believe that anybody would do anything as terrible and tragic to a person like this lady."
The woman underwent surgery Saturday and was said to be in stable condition Sunday night. Police are considering the incident an attempted murder.
