(WFLX) - The first group of Sea Turtle eggs that are part of a sweeping effort to save thousands of threatened hatchlings from the spill have been released safely into the Atlantic Ocean.

Fifty-six turtle eggs were placed on a beach today at Florida's Canaveral National Seashore. The eggs were collected from a nest last month along the Florida panhandle and brought to a temperature-controlled warehouse at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
