KENANSVILLE (WFLX) - A church van crashed on its way back to Deerfield Beach from Universal Studios Saturday evening.

The crash killed one woman. Sixteen other passengers were taken to the hospital with minor to serious injuries.

The van was traveling southbound on the Florida Turnpike, 54 miles south of Orlando, and 8 miles north of Yeehaw Junction when it lost control.

The van then rotated counterclockwise on the road eventually overturning and hitting the guardrail.

Those transported went to 7 different hospitals throughout Indian River, Orange, Osceola and Brevard Counties.

The van that crashed was being followed by a second passenger van with 15 passengers. The second van was not involved in the crash but remained on the scene until all the occupants from the first van were transported.

No injuries to any person in the second van.
