Body recovered from bottom of Lake Osborne

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A man, who jumped from a boat at John Prince Park and died, was identified Monday as Walter Myers, 37, of West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach County firefighters dove into murky water in an effort to find him, but pulled his lifeless body from the bottom of Lake Osborne around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. He had been in the water for about 30 minutes.

Investigators say he and a friend were on a maroon fishing boat when Myers jumped off. He was in the water for less than a minute before he went under and did not resurface.

His friend jumped in to try to save him and, investigators say, he was so exhausted from searching, he had to go to the hospital. That friend is expected to survive. Neither man was wearing a life jacket.

The Palm Beach Sheriff's Department has confirmed Monday morning the boat they were on was stolen.
