WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - "Losing a child is worse than anything in the world, and I'm so sorry," cried Trina Turner. She'll have to live with the fact that she caused her own daughter's death after driving drunk.
Turner was in court Monday learning her fate, but the father of her child made an appeal for mercy.
"This is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy." Turner pleaded guilty to driving drunk and killing her 18-year-old daughter, Torri Ramsey.
Prosecutors say Turner, her two daughters and another passenger left a pool party two years ago on Village Boulevard in West Palm Beach.
Turner lost control of her SUV and hit a tree.
Turner's blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. The day after, we spoke with an injured, devastated Turner.
Under a deal with prosecutors, Turner gets a year of house arrest on an ankle monitor and permanently loses her driver's license. After the year of house arrest, she'll be on probation for 14 more years.
And, for the next five years, on the anniversary of the crash, Turner will report to spend the night in jail.
The other two passengers suffered injuries but survived.
