Budget cuts threaten Boca's libraries, parks and jobs

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - Plans to cut Boca Raton's city budget could impact some libraries, parks and jobs.

The city has eliminated 35 full-time jobs and plans to get rid of 14 part-time jobs. The proposed budget also includes closing their libraries early.

To increase revenue, the city would raise the tax rate 10 percent. But city officials say most homeowners will pay the same amount, or less, in property taxes because of declining property values.

The City Council will vote to approve the budget next month.
