LOXAHATCHEE, FL (WFLX)--- A severe accident in Loxahatchee has left a Palm Beach police officer fighting for his life.

It happened at the intersection of Northlake Blvd and Hall Blvd Thursday night.

Town of Palm Beach police officer, Joshua Faller, was going north on Hall Blvd. when he ran a stop sign at the intersection. That's when his Ford F-150 was hit on the driver's side by an oncoming Ford Expedition.

35-year-old Faller had to be cut out of the truck and flown to St. Mary's Medical Center with a severe head injury.

Faller has been with the Town of Palm Beach Police Department since 1997 and is married with two kids. He was not on duty at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Expedition, Todd Orland, suffered minor injuries.

Faller remains in critical condition.
