TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Medical Association is protesting the American Medical Association's support for President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
The state group's annual meeting was Sunday in Tallahassee. It had considered breaking away from the national group, but delegates decided to send a letter of protest instead.
According to Tallahassee-based website Health News Florida, FMA official Timothy Stapleton said the group believes the AMA "has failed to represent practicing physicians."
The doctors say AMA should not have supported the overhaul without malpractice reform or changes to the Medicare payment formula.
