Palm Beach Gardens receives initial approval for doggie dinning

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - Residents in one Florida community may soon be able to invite Fido out to dinner.

The Palm Beach Gardens city council has given an initial approval to outdoor dining for dogs.

The proposal would allow canine companions to be with their owners at designated outdoor areas in restaurants.

They could not sit on chairs or eat at the table and must remain leashed. Dogs would also be forbidden from entering restaurants and coming in contact with serving dishes and utensils. Extra hand sanitizers would also be required.

The measure must be approved at a second reading. Permits for restaurant owners would cost $175.
