OKEECHOBEE, FL (WFLX) - Now to a rabies scare you need to know about. There are fears that three boys in Okeechobee County might have been exposed to a rabid bat.

The youngsters were playing with the bat over the weekend in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store along East-North Park Street in Okeechobee.

Health officials didn't find out until Monday the bat tested positive for rabies. Now, they're trying to find those boys to make sure they don't have rabies which can be a fatal disease if not treated in time.

If you know who the kids are or where they might be, call the Okeechobee County Health Department at 863.532.9519.
