Marco Rubio Wins Republican Nomination for US Senate

He's been described as a national hero for conservative causes and Tuesday night Republican candidate and Tea Party favorite Marco Rubio won his party's nomination for the US Senate.

Rubio is Florida's former House Speaker.  He has led many of the Republican polls over the last 18-months.

During that time he's faced lesser known Republican opponents in his bid to get the party nod.

But Rubio held enough of a lead to force long time Republican Governor Charlie Christ to change parties and run for the US Senate seat as an Independent.

Republican Rubio and Independent Crist will face Democratic Party winner Kendrick Meek in November.
