WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX)-- Hurricane Earl threatens to make a mess of the Labor Day weekend for travelers and already airlines are taking action to help travelers.

Continental Airlines which flies out of Palm Beach International Airport to Newark New Jersey says it's hub there will be majorly impacted by Hurricane Earl tomorrow so they are waving change fees for most travelers.

The waiver allows customers to rebook travel through September 19th or they can receive a credit toward future travel.

Other PBIA airlines like Delta, US Airways, AirTran and JetBlue are also allowing travelers to make hurricane-related changes.

Here's list of tips to help minimize the grief from travel website Getaroom.com:

Rebook flights as soon as possible via phone to avoid waiting in long lines at the airport, especially at the gate.

Don't wait for the airline to book a hotel. Call them yourself as soon as possible to avoid a night on the airport floor.

Call hotel and car rental companies at your final destination to avoid penalties. Car reservations expire at midnight regardless of flight delays.

To avoid inconvenience during Earl, a Continental spokesperson adds you may want to delay your trip altogether.
