Identity stolen: FL mom arrested for another woman's crimes

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - An Orlando area woman, with relatives in Palm Beach Gardens, had her Social Security Number and name stolen by another woman according to her family.

The woman, who allegedly stole her identification, had been arrested back in March in a prostitution sting and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia in addition to prostitution.

Sunday morning the "real" Paola Londono was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office onboard a Carnival Cruise ship as she returned from a week-long cruise with her husband and son. She was charged with failing to appear on those prostitution charges.

Her aunt, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, is trying to console Paola's mother as well as take care of Paola's son, 9-month-old Nicholas.

Attorneys and other family members are trying to get a judge to let her out of jail, but because it was a holiday Monday, authorities in central Florida are unable to send down fingerprints; even though, it's clear both women are not the same person.

Paola's aunt, Rocio Johnson, said, "This has been so devastating for all of us. She's innocent, and it's very embarrassing to be taken away when you know you haven't done anything wrong."

After spending two days in jail, Londono is back with her husband and baby, but the fight to clear her name continues. Her lawyer says she will still have to appear in court in Osceola County, in the other "Londono" case to verify her identity.
