MIAMI (WFLX) - State wildlife officials take action against Miami's Jungle Island after a 600 pound Tiger escaped -- sending visitors and staff running for their lives.
Florida Fish and Wildlife just filed two misdemeanor charges against the attraction and the animal's owner more than a week after the Tiger jumped a 14-foot fence.
Investigators say the Tiger's cage does not meet state requirements. "We determined that they had laid out mulch on the floor of the cage causing the floor of the cage to be much higher than what we had thought," said Jorge Pino with Florida Fish and Wildlife.
Jungle Island says the Tiger was startled by an ape before bolting from its cage.
In addition to the new charges. FCW issued a written warning to Jungle Island for failing to report the escape.
