NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL (AP)--- The body of a Florida woman who had been traveling on Amtrak has been found alongside train tracks in rural Georgia.

Eugene Arteta said Thursday that he and his 63-year-old wife, Barbara, were traveling overnight on the Auto Train from Virginia to Sanford, Fla. when she disappeared with her purse and $1,000.

She suffers from Parkinson's disease.

Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham confirmed Arteta's body was found near the rail line in Jesup, Ga., but did not provide specifics.

She said authorities are investigating.

Family members said they were told by Amtrak employees that an emergency window had been opened during the night.

Graham wouldn't confirm that.

A telephone message left by The Associated Press for Amtrak was not immediately returned Friday.
