RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX)-- Everything is back to normal at a strip mall after a suspicious device scare.

It happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday night at the shopping complex located on Broadway and Silver Beach Road.

Police evacuated customers and workers from a Winn Dixie and other shops after someone spotted an odd-looking device attached to one of the natural gas lines leading into a coin laundry.

Traffic from Silver Beach to 30th street was closed as well.

The device looked like a battery with an antenna on the gas line.

Turns out, a gas company technician accidentally left a pressure test device attached to the pipe.

Kimberly Bryant, a hair salon employee, said police knocked on her door and told her to get out.

"I just thought about my life and kids and just ran out," she said.

As soon as police realized the device was not a bomb they let people back in.

The evacuation lasted about an hour.
