Crist & Meek Back Out of Kravis Center Luncheon

WEST PALM BEACH, FL(WFLX) --- Event organizers say the show must go on at the Kravis Center, despite the fact that the two star speakers backed out at the last minute.

Candidates for U.S. Senate, Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek backed out of the forum club luncheon because they didn't want to cross the line of a picketing union.

FOX 29 received this statement from Gary Schweikhart on behalf of the center:

"While the Kravis Center recognizes the union's right of free speech, including lawful picketing, it is surprised and disappointed because the parties are scheduled to have their next bargaining session this Friday. The Kravis will continue to bargain in good faith in hopes of negotiating a labor agreement that is fair to both sides."
