HS Football Player Injured in Game

SOUTHWEST RANCHES, FL (WFLX) - The BSO Office of Media Relations is currently working a developing incident regarding a football player airlifted from the 5000 block of South Flamingo Road in Southwest Ranches.

The football player was injured during a Junior Varsity match at Archbishop McCarthy High School around 5 p.m. Wednesday is 16-years-old.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews were told the top of the injured teen's head struck the side of another player.

The teen was conscious and alert when firefighter's arrived and remained so during the medevac Flight to Memorial Regional Hospital.

He was complaining of neck pain and was fully immobilized with a backboard and cervical collar to prevent aggravation of his injuries.

Due to HIPPA regulations, his name can not be released by BSFR.
