WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) --- The results of a teachers vote on a new contract were expected to arrive Friday, but this is no longer happening.
This contract is for last school year.
Classroom Teacher's Association President Robert Dow and Superintendent Dr. Art Johnson announced the deal in late August.
Johnson called the no-raise contract an insult to teachers, but said it was time to move on.
He urged teachers to keep fighting for a better deal on the contract for the current school year.
The Superintendent says teachers getting no raises is one reason Palm Beach County has avoided teacher layoffs.
The deal for last year would give each teacher a one-time bonus of $500.
But voting on this deal has been extended due to computer problems.
Apparently, there was a glitch in spam filters at the District, which held up the user name and passwords and link, for teachers to vote.
So very few teachers got to vote yesterday, so the voting deadline is extended until 5 p.m. Monday.
The voting started Thursday and was supposed to wrap Friday.
