WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties have teamed up with Palm Beach County to offer emergency preparedness information.

ReadySouthFlorida.org is modeled after the Federal government's own Web site, Ready.gov.

Palm Beach County's director of emergency management Bill Johnson says the Web site has three themes: get a kit, make a plan and be informed.

In addition to disaster preparedness tips for 15 different scenarios including a terrorist attack, the Web site offers standardized shelter and evacuation information for all four counties.

The information should all look the same.

He says the 6 million-plus residents who live in South East Florida are all now connected.

"If you live in Palm Beach County and have family in Miami-Dade for example, in order to find out shelter info and evacuation you had to back out of Palm Beach County's Web site. Now, they're all connected," he said.

That connection can also help people who live in the Palm Beaches but also commute to other South Florida counties or have business interests South of Palm Beach County.

There is also a Facebook component to the Web site.
