(WFLX) - An estimated 600,000 workers are expected to be hired this holiday season. That's almost twice as many then two years ago; however, it's still likely to fall short of pre-recession levels.
Here's what you need to know if you're looking for seasonal employment.
Experts with Workforce Alliance say think broader than just the mall - as you'll be competing with thousands of other people that way.
Try the hospitality industry, shipping companies, even amusement places. And, if you want to turn a seasonal job into a permanent one, remember to show up, be responsible, dress professionally and show your value.
Also, don't think of the job as short term. Employers will always say seasonal, but they keep good talent.
The hiring surge most likely will come in November and December but that should not stop job seekers from searching now.
While you can apply online, it's a good idea to follow up in person.
