WPB Home Invasion

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) --- An elderly couple's home was invaded while they were locked in their bathroom Tuesday night.

The couple was at their home in the 700 block of Roseland when two men knocked on their back door, held them at gunpoint and demanded to be let in around 8:30 p.m.

That's when Gloria Cruz and Portifiro Corrales were forced into their bathroom and pushed on the floor while the gunmen stole most of their treasured possessions.

The couple's jewelry and money was snatched from their house and the suspects turned their house upside down.

Corrales says the ordeal lasted about twenty minutes.

He is a retired jewelry repairman and says the intruders tore apart his work desk and made off with gold, sapphire and diamond jewelry

And to make matters worse, Cruz just put more than $1,200 aside to pay her homeowners insurance.

But that money is now gone, she says.

At this time, West Palm Beach Police have not made any arrests in this case.

It is not known if the couple was targeted because of Corrales' history working at a jewelry pawn shop in Lake Worth.
