LOXAHATCHEE, FL (WFLX) - Investigators are looking into whether a drunk driver may be to blame for the death of a 10-year-old Palm Beach County girl.
Khonni Louis was killed Sunday morning when, sheriff's officials say, her mother crashed into a Ford F-250 which was stopped on Northlake Boulevard in Loxahatchee. Khonni, her mother and 11-year-old sister were on their way home from a relative's house.
Khonni was a fifth grader at Pierce Hammock Elementary School. Her father says his wife never saw the vehicle stopped in the road. "She said she was coming down, there was no car in front of her, and, it's like, all of a sudden the guy cut 'em off and hit her."
The driver of the pick up could not be reached for comment. While investigators say, he appeared to be drunk, so far no charges have been filed.
